About
Built for the wild.
I'm Mark Rutt — creative director, photographer, and lifelong outdoorsman. Photography became the bridge between two lives I've always lived in parallel — twenty years of design discipline and a lifetime spent outside. The design training shapes how I see the world before I raise the camera: composition, light, knowing what makes a scene work. The outdoorsman instinct shapes everything else: the patience, the early starts, the willingness to hike somewhere most people won't go and wait.
I shoot with intention. Awe-inspiring landscapes, wild animals in their natural habitat, long exposures, astrophotography, conditions that reveal what the naked eye misses. Part documentarian, part awestruck observer — because the world is still wild in ways worth documenting.
The goal: capture something fleeting, something real — a moment that may never happen again, in a place the world is lucky to still have. Make you feel the pull. Make you want to go.
THE MANTRA
I carry a personal mantra: get lost and find yourself. Not literally lost — but deliberately outside the familiar. Push into new terrain. Step far enough outside your comfort zone and you tend to find out who you actually are. That idea has shaped how I travel, how I shoot, and where I’m taking this work.
