I spent a great day in and around Washington D.C. to kick off the new year. It was a dreary and rainy day, which helped capture the somber feelings associated with exploring Arlington National Cemetery. The sacrifice and honor that lies within its limits is truly one to behold, and an enduring testament to this great nation and the freedoms we have.

After getting dry and warm (and some tasty food in a neat little pub right next to the White House), it was time to visit a few art galleries and exhibits around the mall. Unbeknowst to myself, the Museum of History Museum had an incredible photography exhibit, showcasing some inspiring and amazing wildlife and nature photos from the past year. Truly a lucky happenstance, and grateful to have seen it with my own eyes. It was just another little nod from the universe that I’m headed down the right path and an inspiration to some day get to that level.

And of course, I couldn’t go to DC and not stop by to see Honest Abe!
